| July 26, 2010 | | Spread betting and contracts for differences on U.S. stocks | U.S. stock futures have turned lower, anticipating a slightly lower open today. Now that European bank stress tests are out of the way, investors are once again focusing on the U.S.
Earnings season has been fairly good so far, and that is helping. However, investors are also concerned about the economic data expected this week. Loss of momentum with regard to the U.S. economy is causing some hesitation, and concerns about the release of various data this week are surfacing.
Last week's increase in the initial jobless claims report, as well as signs that the housing market is slowing down again now that the home buyer tax credit has expired, are weighing on the market a bit, and spread bets and CFDs should consider that we are seeing slightly lower expectations for the U.S. stock market.
