U.S. Stocks Mixed in Early Trading

Spread bets and CFDs on the U.S. stock market

U.S. stocks are looking for direction today in early trading, as seen by the mixed performance so far. Spread betting and contracts for differences on U.S. stocks should consider that the Dow is slightly down, while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 are both slightly higher.

Investors are awaiting earnings information from Alcoa. Indeed, earnings season is about to get under way, and Alcoa is the first company expected to report earnings. With European issues mainly priced in, what is going on with earnings is likely to be a main market mover today.

Last week saw a great Dow performance, and the U.S. stock market saw one of its best weeks in almost a year. Additionally, European and Asian stocks are higher today, which could also provide a little optimism and help for the U.S. stock market. But we will have to wait and see what happens with earnings.
