Once again, initial jobless claims are on the rise again in the U.S. This is the second week that has seen a rise in initial claims, and the news has some investors jittery about the sustainability of economic recovery. BusinessWeek reports on the initial claims reports:

Initial jobless applications increased by 24,000 to 484,000 in the week ended April 10, the highest level since Feb. 20, Labor Department figures showed today in Washington. A Labor Department spokesman said the rise in claims was due more to administrative factors reflecting volatility around Easter than because of economic reasons.

It remains to be seen whether or not the government has a case for the reason being Easter. However, the U.S. is anxious to believe that the jobs situation is improving, especially since it will mean a great deal to the economy.
