Greeks Strike Against Austerity Measures

Spread betting and contracts for differences on European markets

Spread bets and CFDs on European markets should consider the current situation in Greece right now. Thousands of Greeks are striking in an effort to protest austerity measures the government wants to impose in order to bring the financial situation under control.

The Greek protest follows on the heels of disappointing German Ifo data. However, none of this seems to be dampening European markets today.

Indeed, European stocks are higher, and the euro is moving higher against the U.S. dollar in forex trading. For now, it appears that the reluctance of the Greek public to bring national finances under control is not causing any real problems for European markets. But we'll have to wait to see how things unfold.
