| November 23, 2009 | | Spread bets and CFDs on global stock markets | Spread betting and contracts for differences on world equity markets should consider that they are headed generally higher today. In Europe, stock markets are significantly higher, and in Asia only Tokyo is losing ground today.
Indeed, as the week starts out, global stock markets are rallying. Gold is soaring and risk appetite is solid ahead of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday. In the U.S., the week will be shortened, with markets closed on Thursday, for the holiday, and closing early at 1 p.m. on Friday.
Last week, world stock markets ended lower (although not much lower in the case of the U.S.). However, with the holiday shopping season about to get underway, investors are looking forward some measure of economic recovery stimulated by the consumer spending that usually accompanies the holiday season.
