| November 16, 2009 | | Spread betting and contracts for differences on U.S. stocks | Spread bets and CFDs on the U.S. stock market should consider that futures are pointing higher this morning. Indeed, U.S. stock futures are expected to open higher, thanks to a positive end to last week, as well as expected events today.
U.S. retail sales for October showed some improvement, and that is expected to be one of the topics addressed by Ben Bernanke in a speech later today. Additionally, the news is providing some hope that 2009 will go out with increased consumer spending -- especially as the holiday shopping season gets under way.
Other equities around the world are rallying right now. Asian stock markets closed higher today, and European markets are higher. The U.S. stock market is expected to follow suit when it opens.
