U.S. Stocks Move Into The Positive, Despite Swine Flu

Spread bets and CFDs on the U.S. stock market

U.S. stocks are moving into the positive, in spite of news about the swine flu. Earlier today, concerns about the swine flu initially sent the U.S. stock market lower. However, now stocks are shaking off the threat and major indices are on the rise -- thanks in part to gains by pharma companies.

The Street reports on where the U.S. stock market stands right now:

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 19 points to 8095, after having been in negative territory earlier. The S&P 500 was unchanged at 866, and the Nasdaq was flat at 1695. Both of those had also been showing losses.

Clearly, other factors are being considered right now (such as earnings). However, if the swine flu is not contained, global trade could be affected and this could send U.S. stocks lower again.
