U.S. Stock Market Not Confident About Bank Rescue Plan

Timothy Geithner unveils bank rescue plan to lackluster results
The U.S. stock market is obviously not impressed with the bank rescue plan unveiled by Timothy Geithner earlier today. Even the passage of the economic stimulus bill in the Senate is not doing much in terms of providing confidence for U.S. stocks.

Part of the plan calls for private funding to help shore up banks. Unfortunately, many investors are skeptical that toxic assets will be attractive investments.

It remains to be seen whether the economic stimulus bill, after it is reconciled with the House version, does anything more for the U.S. stock market.
