U.S. Senate Passes Its Own Economic Stimulus Bill

Three Republicans cross aisle to pass Senate version of the economic stimulus bill
U.S. president Barack Obama is stumping today, trying to drum up public support for an economic stimulus bill that is not particularly popular amongst Americans. However, he might have gotten a boost today: Three Republicans crossed the aisle to pass the Senate version of the economic stimulus bill with 61 votes.

The Senate version of the bill, though, has a number of differences from the House version. This means that before the bill can be signed, reconciliation needs to be reached between the two versions.
