Will the U.S. Create a National "Bad Bank"?

U.S. considers creating a bank for bad assets
With rumours that RBS could be the next U.K. bank to be nationalised, there are now whispers across the pond that the U.S. could be creating a national bank.

This national bank, though, would be one exclusively for bad assets that the government is working to remove from the balance sheets of banks in an effort to contribute to their solvency.

This is only one suggestion being considered, however. Another plan being considered is that the government would guarantee the toxic assets of many banks.
