| December 19, 2008 | | Spread betting and contracts for differences on individual equities | Spread bets and CFDs on auto makers should consider that the U.S. government has finally come through for the automakers with a bailout. TARP funds, to the tune of $13.4 billion, will be used to offer short-term funding to General Motors (GM) and Chrysler (privately held).
As one would expect, the broader U.S. stock market has been energized by the news. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) is gaining right now, at a rather rapid pace.
Combined with yesterday's better than expected jobless data, this news of help for the U.S. auto industry should provide a needed boost.
