Gold Slides as U.S. Dollar Surges Against Euro in Forex Trading

Gold futures drop again
So much for a potential commodities market rally (including a gold rally). Even though gold prices closed higher on Friday, today's buying has been stymied.

One of the main issues affect gold futures in the short term is the terrorist rampage in Mumbai last week. In the long term, gold prices are expected to be hit by a spreading global recession that is showing little sign of slowing down.

And, of course, gold prices generally move inversely to the U.S. dollar's performance against the euro in forex trading. With the greenback surging, gold prices are taking a backseat.
