One of the financial market terms you might come across is spot trading. You are likely to see this especially with forex trading and with commodities trading.
Spot trading
Spot trading is when something is traded immediately, or "on the spot", rather than set for some future date. While there are currency futures available, the vast majority of forex trading happens as spot.
