Wachovia to Be Acquired By Citigroup

Spread betting and contracts for differences on individual equities
Spread bets and CFDs on individual stocks should consider that Wachovia is about to be acquired by Citigroup.

It is important to note that this is not a bank failure like Washington Mutual. Instead, this is a merger that is being facilitated by the FDIC. It is also important to note (from the standpoint of American taxpayers and concerns about the U.S. economy) that no FDIC funds are going to this deal.

Even as the U.S. government plans to bailout Wall Street firms, it appears as though some portions of the free market are still in effect and working as some institutions begin a transition without a bailout.
