Currently, though, oil futures are on the rise, after declining a little bit ahead of US inventory data. Some of the issues that affect oil prices in futures trading include:

- Tropical storms and hurricanes that threaten refineries.
- Geopolitical issues and tensions that threaten supply.
- Demand from consumers.
