Even though higher interest rates are often used to keep inflation in check, this is the norm during times of economic growth. This is not the case here.
In Britain, the eurozone and the US, this inflation is being accompanied by signs of slowing economic growth. And this, in turn, is leading to the speculation that -- for now -- interest rates are more likely to remain on hold.
