| January 31, 2008 | | Spread bets and CFDs on U.S. interest rates | Spread betting and contracts for differences on U.S. rates should consider that they may be cut again in March. Even with a 50 point cut yesterday and a 75 point Fed rate cut last week, some believe that the U.S. economy may warrant another cut in March. The Economic Times reports on the possibility of another Fed rate cut:
"Overall, the tone (of the Fed's statement) suggests a willingness
to continue easing if growth data continue to weaken," said analysts at UBS
Securities in New York, who forecast rate cuts in March and April. "We expect
policy to go on hold as the economy starts to pull out of recession in the
second half of the year."
