U.S. stocks rallied to start the fourth quarter Monday, pushing the Dow
to record highs as traders hoped write-downs announced by Citigroup
could help put this summer's credit crisis in the past. The Dow
industrials gained 191 points to close at a new record 14,087, having
hit an intraday high of 14,115.
And today U.S. stocks are continuing to move higher, albeit at a slower pace.
