| September 13, 2007 | | Spread betting, contracts for differences and spot forex trading with the sterling | The U.K. pound has been experiencing a bit of turmoil on the spot forex market. However, it is important to note that in spread betting on the sterling there are options. While shorting short-term might work, in the long-term some expect the U.K. pound to come out okay. GFT's Ian Copsey reports on Inside Futures regarding BOE Governor King's outlook on the spot forex market and the U.K. pound:
He commented, “The current turmoil, which has at its
heart the earlier under-pricing of risk, has disturbed the unusual
serenity of recent years, but, managed properly, it should not threaten
our long-term economic stability.” However, he did warn that the
financial system is vulnerable to further shocks.
