Spread bets and CFDs on such merger discussions, as well as spread betting on individual equities, could be influenced by such a trade. Rumours of the merger discussions sent E-Trade stock lower. MarketWatch reports on the likelihood of an E-Trade merger:
"We are always looking for opportunities that make a good
strategic/financial fit," TD Ameritrade spokeswoman Kim Hillyer said in
an emailed message. "You should assume that we have, and will, continue
talking to our industry peers and would take advantage of deals if and
