Alliance & Leicester are gaining on the stock market this morning as takeover speculation abounds. Spread bets and CFDs on British stocks should consider the impact that some moves are having on individual equities. Bloomberg reports on Alliance & Leicester:

``The shares are benefiting today from speculation that National Australia Bank may be about to pounce,'' said Martin Slaney, head of spread betting at GFT Global Markets in London. ``As an existing owner of Yorkshire Bank, it's very possible that more acquisitions could be on the cards.''
