| July 18, 2007 | | Stock indices down in Britain and Ireland | Irish and British stocks are falling today. Spread bets and CFDs on the FTSE 100 and the ISEQ stock indices should take into account that the decline of the U.S. dollar is hurting stock indices around the world. Bloomberg reports on stock indices:
The benchmark FTSE 100 Index retreated 0.8 percent to 6604.7
as of 1:07 p.m. in London. The All-Share Index fell 0.7 percent to
3413.85. Ireland's ISEQ Index decreased 0.4 percent to 9114.32.
European stocks also fell today, hurt by the dollar's
decline, disappointing profit reports from Intel Corp. and Yahoo!
Inc. and ongoing concern about defaults in the U.S. subprime
mortgage market. | | |
