U.S. Financial Markets Mixed

Earnings show that U.S. stocks likely to remain strong for now, but to slow later in the year
This year, U.S. financial markets are expected to mixed, making spread betting and contracts for differences a bit tricky at times. While U.S. stocks are strong for now, they are expected to slow later in the year. MarketWatch reports on the implications for U.S. finanical markets:

"We are about one-quarter of the way through the first-quarter earnings season, and two-thirds of companies that have reported have beat consensus expectations," said Bob Doll, global chief investment officer at BlackRock, in a note.

"To us, this suggests that expectations for the first quarter may have come down too much, but we still maintain that earnings growth will slow in 2007 overall," he said. "Looking ahead, we see a somewhat mixed picture for both the economy and financial markets."
