| April 13, 2007 | | Stock market weakens on Japan | Earnings announcements by Japanese companies are coming in as "disappointing", and that is taking its toll on Japanese stock indices. Both the Nikkei 225 and the Topix are down on the stock market. Spread betting and contracts for differences should consider shorting Japanese stock indices for now. Bloomberg reports on the Japanese stock market:
The Nikkei 225 Stock Average dropped 176.47, or 1 percent,
to 17,363.95 in Tokyo, reversing a 0.7 percent climb. The Topix
index lost 20.68, or 1.2 percent, to 1705.50, after rising as
much as 0.5 percent. About seven stocks dropped for each that
rose on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. | | |
