Japanese Individual Equities Gain on Stock Market

Spread betting and contracts for differences should favour utilities and steelmakers
Spread bets and CFDs on Japanese individual equities should consider favouring utilities and steelmakers as they are expected to get the lions share of dividends as Japanese stocks rise and the yen falls. Bloomberg reports on Japanese individual equities on the stock market:

Utility companies including Tokyo Electric Power Co. and steelmakers such as Nippon Steel Corp. also rose as investors bet on shares that may offer higher dividends.

``The Japanese currency's sudden rebound eased investors' overly pessimistic view about the strengthened yen and its impact on exporter stocks,'' said Naoki Fujiwara, who oversees $720 million in funds at Shinkin Asset Management Co. in Tokyo. ``There are increasing expectations over higher dividend payments by companies such as steelmakers and I think this trend will continue at least until mid-March.''
