Japan's Topix Index Declines on Stock Market

Spread bets and CFDs on Japanese stocks
Japan's Topix index took a hit today as utility companies are considered overvalued. Spread betting and contracts for differences should short the Topix index for now, and be wary of other Japanese stocks. Bloomberg reports on Japanese stocks and the stock market:

Japan's Topix index dropped, led by shares of utility companies including Tokyo Electric Power Co., as investors judged their recent gains excessive.

``Power companies have risen too much and are becoming less attractive in terms of dividend yield,'' said Naoki Fujiwara, who oversees $720 million in assets at Shinkin Asset Management Co. in Tokyo. ...

The Topix lost 8.18, or 0.5 percent, to 1720.18, reversing a gain of as much as 0.5 percent.
