| December 04, 2006 | | Exports from countries like South Korea can provide spread betting clues | When placing spread bets, it can be a good idea to look to exports. The South Korean won is a good example of incorporating other economic data elements into one's spread betting strategy. Bloomberg offers this information:
South Korea's won will climb from a
nine-year high as exports rise and Asian central banks allow
their currencies to strengthen, said Royal Bank of Scotland Plc.
Exports reached a record last month, a report showed Dec. 1,
even as the won's 9 percent advance this year against the dollar
made goods sent overseas more expensive. Gains in the currencies
of China and Japan, the region's two biggest economies, mean the
Bank of Korea can allow appreciation without exporters losing
competitiveness, said RBS currency strategist Ben Simpfendorfer.
``Exports are continuing their strong run,'' wrote Hong
Kong-based Simpfendorfer in a report published Dec. 1. ``The
region's central banks may feel more comfortable allowing their
currencies to strengthen in coming months.'' | | |
