Spread Betting News: Why Does the U.S. Dominate?

The world's largest economy naturally influences the rest of the world
When big news comes out of the U.S., financial markets seem to focus on that news. The latest case is the news of the U.S. midterm elections. A dramatic shift in the U.S. government's balance of power is underway, and the policies of a Democrate-controlled U.S. Congress are likely to differ from the policies of a Republican-controlled Congress.

What happens in the U.S., though, affects financial spread betting on other markets as well. The U.S. midterm elections have already affected European stocks, causing them to fall, and allowed other currencies to strengthen against the U.S. dollar. When placing spread bets, it is important to consider the impact the U.S. has on the rest of the world.
