U.K. Interest Rate News Sending Mixed Signals

First good interest rate news, then bad for the sterling
When the Bank of England unexpectedly rasied interest rates a few weeks ago, the pound enjoyed a bit of strength. And, earlier this week, on expectations that the BoE would raise rates again, the sterling surged. Unfortunately, the consumer confidence report is out, and it indicates that the previous interest rate hike might have been premature. Now the pound is sliding again. Short term spread bets should short the sterling, but it might be wise to hold of on spread betting on the pound until the Bank of England makes another interest rate decision.
